About Us

Our Mission

The MJ Scarlett Foundation Inc is a 501(c)(3) corporation that focuses on educating children, teens, and adults on how to identify human trafficking perpetrators, and protect themselves from being sex trafficked.

M J Scarlett Foundation, Inc was created in honor of our daughter, Mia Johanna Scarlett, who died May 2018 at just 2 months old.

While grieving the loss of my daughter in 2019, I was asked to present to children/youths about human trafficking awareness. While conducting research for the presentation I was appalled to learn that in 2018, the year she died more than fifty percent (50%) of sex trafficked victims were children. This experience catalyzed my empathy and compassion toward advocating for, and educating adults and children who were vulnerable to sex trafficking. I firmly believed that if sharing this information could save children from being trafficked and/or dying it would greatly honor our daughter, Mia. .

Private trainings are done through our for profit company, M J Scarlett Human Trafficking Academy, LLC. This includes curriculum for law enforcement, schools,  companies, churches, and the greater community.  Our goal is to "train the trainer" to increase the number of individuals trained
